E-Detective- 802.11 a/b/g Wireless LAN Forensics Appliance
E-Detective 802.11 a/b/g Wireless LAN Forensics Appliance provides front-end packet collection and back-end protocol restructed sub-modules. The wireless front-end module acts as both a wireless LAN detector and sniffer, used to successfully detect 802.11 b/g Access Points over layer 2 of a network communication by the communication station (STA) establishing a communication with an Access Point (AP) and skims wireless LAN packets. The second module acts as a module for restoring and performing forensics, which categorizes the retrieved packet by its electromagnetic nature and restores packet arrangements by sequence, saving the packet. At the same time, it will decipher the categorized packet by known protocol into plain code. This is then stored into a database for future reference.

Description of the Front-end Detector and Back-end Sniffer Modules
I. 802.11 a/b/g Wireless LAN Detector & Sniffer

The primary feature of this module is to detect all 802.11 wireless LAN communications and to detect any Access Point (AP) and station (STA) within the detector's covering area. Combining the detector module with a Global Positioning System (GPS) will locate the approximate geographical location of all detected APs or STAs through an electronic map. For additional accuracy (up to 10 meters), the user may connect three E-Detective Wireless detectors with a network connection, high-sensitivity antenna, and signal amplifier to calculate the location of the sniffed object through triangulation.
*Factors such as weather, terrain, and interference will effect remote sniffing area. Sniffing can be reached into the 2 to 4 kilometer range, with an utmost distance of 10 kilometers (due to the earth's curvature).
